How to Keep a Neutral Color Scheme from Being Boring
If you are decorating with a neutral color palate, I always suggest starting with the white walls. Surprisingly there are a ton of variations of white paint color! I always suggest using Designer White by Benjamin Moore to compliment a white and black or neutral color scheme.
I’ve seen a lot of rooms that are going for a calm and serene vibe, but often that can lead to the room being a bit … well, boring! In order to make sure your neutral room still has personality make sure you add in the following elements:
- Use GOLD accents (check out Aerin Lauder speak here about how gold is a neutral) – they pop without being obvious and always bring the glamour
- Decorate a wall with a large piece of black and white art, framed in a black frame and oversize matting
- Add plants to bring in some life and greenery, real or good fakes, but showcase some leafy greens.
- Use baskets and stuff them with pretty oversize pillows as accents. Make sure one or more has some texture and design on them. Here is a good example, from com,
So if a relaxing look is what you are after – use those design tips to get going!
